What have we done!
Our food is tainted
Our skies are toxic
The air we breath is deadly
The birds are dying
The fish are dying
The bees are dying
Our livestock are fed contaminated feed
Oh what have we done!
Our vegetables carry poison
bacterial contamination in fresh food
genetically modified food is a killer
there are unforeseen consequences
modified crops, can cause damage to immune systems
the long term health risks are not known
food allergies, risks to both farmed and wild ecosystems
Oh what have we done!
The world's air pollution at record levels
the hard problems like smog and acid deposition
acid rain negatively affects surface waters, aquatic animals, forests
visibility, and human health
air quality or lack of it results in;
heart or respiratory illnesses,eye irritation,
wheezing, coughing, phlegm and sore throats
Oh what have we done!
Insects, Birds and Fish Dying
one-third of the food we eat comes from crops
that need animal pollinators, a role filled by bees,
butterflies, beetles, birds,
massive die-offs with thousands dead are reported
marine life is being driven to extinction
whales, sea turtles, porpoises, the living corals and seaweeds
Oh what have we done!
Contamination of livestock intended for human consumption
devastating and widespread effect on human health
consequent risk of dietary cancer from pesticides, chemical fertilizers
melamine-tainted contaminated animal feed
mad-cow, the disease source traced to cattle feed containing bone meal
contamination of livestock feeds with banned herbicides
Oh what have we done!
Is this a natural mechanism of life, surely not, the ecosystems are breaking down
we have created an artificial life system, evolutionary mutation, a generic population
when species formed, their interactions with each other and the natural environment
should have been functional interactions, sharing the natural environment, growing in health
but instead we have created an age of complexity, chaos reins, we experience traumatic experiences
we act in a destructive behavior pattern aimed at ourselves and nature, we must change
Oh what have we done!
